A week ago I enjoyed catching a special performance of Yo-Yo Ma’s gifted Silk Road Ensemble collaborating with equally gifted RISD undergraduates. The students were performing, drawing, and creating a space of storytelling that not only captivated, but was entirely uncomputed — live, as life should be. Today I officially begin as RISD’s 16th President. My presidency will be like the undergrads performance — something delivered live as a kind of open conversation with the RISD community and the world. I am curious to imagine what we might all do together. -John PS I know there are requests to open this blog to comments.
