I had the chance today to enjoy the newly printed compendium of a tiny fraction of the works available in the vast inventory of the RISD Museum. This book was designed by Prof. Bethany Johns and is the perfect example of a book that takes you through, into, around, and way way deep into the thoughts that go into curating a perfectly-sized collection as we have at our Museum. Students are able to literally “walk across the street” and experience a world-class collection; Rhode Island (and greater New England) residents take a short trip to engage in a MoMA-like experience in their own back yard. Such is the wonderful palette of the RISD experience.
