Joe Gebbia ‘05 GD/ID and Brian Chesky ‘04 ID are catching some air with their new start up AirBnB,  allowing travelers to book rooms (or futons or floors or…) with locals instead of hotels. AirBnB is among the companies featured in the April 20 issue of TIME (”Get Rich Slow”) as an example of a business that is thriving during these new economic times. David Albertson ‘89 GD, a co-founder of MotorMouths - which publishes reviews and critics’ scores for new cars - is also featured in the very same article. Coincidence? We don’t think so. Open-minded, RISD-style thinking is what is producing fresh models for new discovery. If there’s anything we know about the current economy, it’s that conventional business thinking is what got us here, and only creative thinking can get us out.
