Grownups
May 1st, 2009 4:40pm by Liisa SilanderSometimes it’s not so bad to grow up, especially if you get to do it like Claire Bigbie ’01 ID, who’s featured in the recent New York Times article “When Skaters Grow Up.” The piece looks at the fun design choices Claire and her husband Jay Shapiro – both avid skateboarders – made in undertaking a total gut renovation of their $1-million Victorian in San Francisco. From a bathroom designed to look like an empty pool – a skateboarder’s dream – to a ground-floor studio with a rolling garage door opening onto the back garden, it’s the kind of place just about any fun-loving grownup with good taste would jump up and down to own.
