On my recent visit to Chicago I had the opportunity to personally thank alums Robert Segal and Alicia Rosauer at their studio for their ongoing contribution to scholarships support here at our RISD. Their little textile company seems to have completely captured the zeitgeist of today with an emphasis on simplicity and freshness that especially marks their post-RISD training in Finland. I appear to have known their work from my first days here at RISD according to Scott Post’s blog I found when I googled the term “unison” and “risd.” “If you are going to have less things, they have to be great things,” seems to be quite evident from this recent story in the NYT. Luckily this holiday season I know where to pick up some truly great pillows … -JM
