RISD Illustrator on Today Show

Check out author/illustrator Grace Lin ’96 IL on the Today Show (Friday, December 4) with Al Roker. Having chosen her latest children’s book Where the Mountain Meets the Moon as one of his Book Club for Kids selections, Roker asks her about what inspired the book, which is a tribute to her late husband, Robert Mercer BArch ’97. In a profile in last month’s issue of School Library Journal, Grace says she resisted pressures from her parents to get a degree in science and instead risked  “slightly horrifying” them to come to RISD. From our vantage point, it looks like she made the right decision!   More good news just in: Where the Mountain Meets the Moon has been named a 2010 Newbery Honor Book, meaning Grace is suitably psyched!
