About

our.risd is here to reach out to the entire Rhode Island School of Design community and everyone else who is interested in following our trajectory into the 21st century. Conceived by RISD President John Maeda (before he took office June 2, 2008), this blog offers a forum for him to share his thoughts and ideas about transition, community, life, work and anything else that comes to mind.

our.risd is also about and for you – it’s a place where you can direct pointed and provocative questions about RISD. To ask about our plans, raise challenging issues and make suggestions, and find more ways to connect with people here and/or in the larger RISD family, just e-mail our-suggests AT risd.edu and we’ll respond via this blog. our.risd is also a way for members of RISD’s Alumni Relations + Special Events and Communications + Design teams to share news and information beyond what you’ll find on www.risd.edu; or in our monthly alumni e-newsletter e-views. RISD alumni, students, faculty and staff who want to share their own comments should continue to go to the password-protected blog two.risd.edu.

As our.risd evolves, it very likely will become something more. So stay tuned. At RISD we like to experiment, take risks and see where (else) we can go.

Liz O’Neil
Vice President for Communications + Design

P.S. If you’re new to this blog, we recommend starting from the very first post to best acclimate yourself. And then try to follow along, as if you’re reading a book that allows you to raise questions with the author(s) as you go.
