5 Alums Cited for Mastery of Craft

Five RISD alumni are among the artists featured in the October/November issue of American Craft Magazine – in a round-up of the most promising young craftsmen now practicing in the US. The article ties in with the 40 Under 40: Craft Futures exhibition on view through February 3, 2013 at the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery.
The RISD peeps recognized for signaling great promise for the future of craftsmanship in America include:

Daniel Michalik MFA 04 FD, who’s known for his phenomenal work with cork, in particular…
Glass artist Bohyun Yoon MFA 08 GL, whose Glass Tube project now at the Renwick makes ephemeral music via tubes that each emit a different sound (apparently a bit like: Pheeyeahhhh, Yeyounnng and Byooooong)

Bill Hilgendorf 02 ID and Jason Horvath 02 ID, who run the Brooklyn-based studio Uhuru, where they design and make gorgeous, sustainable furniture and home goods…

and multitalented designer/fine artist Matthew Szösz BID 97/MFA 07 GL.
What a selection. They do RISD proud!
