Woods-Gerry proved to be an oasis for art lovers on Tuesday night when RISD professors, students and members of the public dropped by the gorgeous gallery for the opening reception of the spectacular Summer Faculty Show. Large-scale paintings, intriguing installations and provocative digital media pieces are just a small part of this diverse exhibition.
At the opening, visitors hovered by Horizons, a series of three encaustic mixed-media pieces by AJ Morse 76 LA. The instructor is now teaching Mythical, Magical Creatures, a CE course offered through the Young Artist Program.
Viewers were also especially taken with New Wave, a translucent installation that appears to be as delicate as it is beautiful. Harel Kedem BArch 75 crafted the piece out of rebar, steel piping and welded plastic bottles. Elsewhere in the gallery, visitors stopped to ponder Epider-Aid, an intriguing mixed-media piece by Dan Langston.
Free to the public, the Summer Faculty Show continues through July 28 on the first floor of the Woods-Gerry House located at 62 Prospect Street in Providence.
