On Tuesday afternoon RISD staff and faculty enjoyed each other’s company at the 2013 Winter Gathering at Woods-Gerry, an annual event organized by staff volunteers on the Winter Gathering Committee. This year’s celebration also offered an opportunity for President John Maeda to say his goodbyes to members of the campus community. In informal remarks, the outgoing president expressed his thanks to the dedicated people from all areas of the college who keep RISD running smoothly and at the forefront of art and design education.
Between taking in the many impressive and intriguing examples of work on view in the Staff Art Show, guests also took the opportunity to write farewell messages to the president.
And thanks to the amazing efforts of RISD chefs and other Dining staff members, party-goers enjoyed an incredible hot meal and a mouth-watering array of desserts that included Dining’s renowned Bûche de Noël.
